Best Car for a New Driver

on November 10, 2021

Every day there are thousands of new drivers getting behind the wheel and joining the millions of American drivers.  These can be our young teenage drivers who just achieved their driver’s license, or they can be someone who just decided to start driving. No matter the case, that new driver is going to need a vehicle.

Let’s talk about the safest cars for new drivers, along with the best cars for new drivers. These can range from new vehicles to used cars.  Whenever a new driver gets behind the wheel of a vehicle, they will want to feel safe and confident.  That is why it’s incredibly important to pick the right vehicle for the correct driver.

Best Used Cars for New Drivers

Honda Civic

One of the safest used cars for new drivers is the Honda Civic.  We recommend getting a model that is from 2001 or newer.  The Honda Civic not only has an incredibly good IIHS crash test rating, but it is also super affordable.  These vehicles can run for years, and well above 260,000 miles.

Since the Honda Civic is so popular, there is a huge market for different products and additions to the honda civic, making it the perfect choice for teen drivers to customize the cars.

Toyota Tacoma

If you are a new driver, looking for a pickup truck option.  The Toyota Tacoma is probably the best first choice for a used truck for a new driver.  We recommend getting a model from 2000 to 2010 and you can find some for under $10,000.

The Tacoma has a decent crash test rating, and comes in a few different power options, from four or six cylinders.  Keep in mind, just like with most pickup trucks, they are gas guzzlers.

Honda CR-V

Finally, our SUV option would be the Honda CR-V.  We recommend purchasing this vehicle used from the year 2002 all the way to 2018.  You can find this vehicle for around $7,000 or higher.

The Honda CR-V has an excellent crash test rating and is an incredibly reliable vehicle.  The Honda CR-V is known for being the best-selling SUV in the world because of its utility options, economical pricing, and reliability.

Best New Car for New Drivers

Mazda 3

The Mazda 3 is an excellent choice for a smaller vehicle for a new driver.  You can find a brand new 2021 Mazda 3 for around $20,000 making it an excellent and affordable option.  This vehicle has a decent fuel-efficiency along with an elegant and sleek design.

Hyundai Tucson

The Tucson is our SUV option for a new car for a new driver.  The 2021 version can be found for around $28,000 and comes in multiple different variations of models.  This is a well-rounded and compact vehicle that has stood the test of time by having strong reliability, and safety ratings.

Honda Odyssey

If you are a new driver looking for a minivan option, the Honda Odyssey is without a doubt the best minivan option for a new vehicle. You can purchase it for around $32,000.  This minivan comes with great power, fuel economy, and comfort.  Perfect for a new driver that plans on traveling with children.

Car Accessories for New Drivers

Lastly, the best accessory for a new driver to equip into their vehicle is a DriveSmart Auto Warranty.  Unlike insurance that covers accidents and collisions, an extended auto warranty protects your vehicle from malfunctions and breakdowns.

In the event that your vehicle breaks down on the side of the road.  All you need to do with a DriveSmart Auto Warranty is call the 24/7 roadside assistance number that we provide to you.  They will tow your vehicle to the nearest certified repair facility, and you present your DriveSmart Card to the repair shop.

The mechanic will then contact our claims department, and file the claim. Once the claim is filed, you just pay a small deductible.  DriveSmart will pay the rest.  Giving you peace of mind for the road ahead!
