Electric cars have been a growing popular option in the past ten years, as their numbers are constantly increasing and on the rise.  Companies like Tesla, Audi,  Cadillac, Fisker, Ford, and many others have joined the electric vehicle market with much success.  It is without a doubt proven that electric vehicles are most likely going to be the future for the automotive industry due to the increase in gas prices, and the environment. 

Now, on the horizon, electric trucks including pickup trucks are slowly making their way towards the near future.  Electric trucks are being developed for mass production by a few different companies, and today we are going to showcase some of the new features of these upcoming electric vehicles.  

The Lightning

Coming in with power and lightning is the ford electric truck that comes in at an extremely affordable price tag of around $40,000 making this vehicle extremely affordable for an electric truck.  This electric F-150 looks like a normal pickup truck but is equipped with an electric engine and battery pack. 

This ford f150 electric truck has been displayed with around 430 horsepower and an incredible battery life of 230 miles per battery charge.  The vehicle is equipped with all-wheel drive and is built with 4-doors.  This vehicle has a towing capacity of around 10,000 pounds making it a suitable pickup truck for anyone.  This vehicle is expected to release in 2022.  

The Cybertruck

One of the most unique electric trucks on the horizon is the cybertruck from Tesla.  This vehicle starts at around $40,000 making it a decently affordable vehicle option for an electric truck.  This vehicle is built to look extremely futuristic with a strong stainless steel construction built around it.  There are three electric motors built into the vehicle and the most impressive feature is that it can drive roughly 500 miles on a single charge.  

There is a more costly cybertruck option that can speed up to 60 mph in roughly 3 seconds making it an incredibly fast electric truck.  The truck that is built more like an SUV has the ability to fit six passengers, along with a 14,000-pound towing limit.  The average full-charge time for this vehicle is about 10 hours, and the vehicle will be available sometime in early 2022.  

The Hummer

The EV Hummer is coming from GMC is coming in two different variations, a pickup, and an SUV. Both vehicles are coming in at around $80,000 making it one of the more expensive electric truck options coming out.  

Both versions of the hummer vehicle come with a 24-module Ultium battery pack that gives the vehicle roughly 350 miles on a single charge but the most impressive component of the vehicle is the charge time, as it can achieve roughly 100 miles of charge in about 10 minutes, making this vehicle stand out incredibly well when compared to some of the other upcoming electric trucks.  Unfortunately, this vehicle is not going to be available until 2024 most likely.  

Electric Trucks Won’t Stop

We have just scratched the surface of what upcoming electric trucks have to offer in the future.  Different companies like Bollinger, Lordstown, Rivian, and others are developing electric trucks, and we here at DriveSmart believe that electric trucks and cars will continue to grow in popularity and affordability.
