Automotive History: The First Car Ever

on May 18, 2021

The cars of today are ever-evolving and are something that we rely on immensely to be able to get from point A to point B. However, cars weren’t always the way we see them today. The first car was a shell of what we see today.

The first vehicle was made in Germany, and then later spread across Let’s begin an in-depth passage to the pat to see what the first car was like.

Who Made the First Car?

The first car was made by Carl Benz in 1885. This vehicle contained the absolute basics, which were a structure, seats, wheels, and an engine. This engine was something that would later be trademarked by Benz.

This vehicle wasn’t looked upon too kindly by the populace at the time. It was a large change, and this was the time where everyone wanted to create something, but not everyone wanted to put the work in to make it perfect.

This two-seater shell of the cars we have today is the birth of one of the greatest pieces of innovation that the world has seen.

How Was it Made Popular?

No one believed that the car would go very far, so how did it turn into the remarkable invention it is today? This is all due to Carl Benz’s wife, Martha. She is one of the most important women in the history of vehicles.

She had taken her children, and went on a long distance ride in the vehicle in order to spread the word of the first-ever engine-driven vehicle. While some didn’t take this idea too well, many would line the streets to watch this contraption drive down the street.

While the vehicle may have had some difficulties, and may have been hand pushed some of the ways, it was still able to get a fair distance, which was a revolutionary thing to happen. This is what made people really think that this could be a good invention to have.
